SAFE – The way to be with PPE
Benson Electrical Contracting abides by all health and safety regulations to maintain the safety of our workers and job sites. Protecting the health and the well-being of our customers is our primary concern. One important element to achieve this goal is Personal Protective Equipment, better known these days as PPE.
Due to the recent health concerns, most people identify PPE as masks and gloves. Yet electricians throughout the industry know it takes far more than masks and gloves to keep contractors safe on the job site.
To maintain the safety of workers and our clients, required PPE must be worn at all times when on a construction or renovation job site no matter how large or how small the project. At a minimum, each worker is required to wear a hard hat, and safety glasses, as well as face masks. High visibility safety vests with reflective striping are required when any of our employees are exposed to road traffic, including parking lots. High visibility shirts are worn in the absence of vehicular traffic. Shirts with sleeves, long work pants and sturdy, steel toed boots or shoes are also required when working on construction or renovation sites.
Depending on the circumstances, additional PPE may also be required and may include:
- Protective gloves
- Full face shields
- Hearing protection
- Fall protection equipment
- Welding leathers or fire-retardant clothing
At Benson Electrical Contracting, we continually train to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries to our staff and job site crews. We do so through training, implementing safe work practices, and compliance with all regulatory requirements as issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as local community codes.
